Chaucer the Loyal Cat with a New Favorite Human

For seven wonderful years, Chaucer has been my constant feline companion, my furry shadow through every life change. That all shifted last September when my girlfriend moved in, and this discerning tabby clearly approved of the new roommate. Almost overnight, Chaucer developed an adorable attachment to her, choosing to spend his evenings curled up on her side of the bed rather than mine.

It’s both heartwarming and slightly amusing to watch this loyal cat transfer his affections. While I’ll always be his original human, there’s something special about seeing him bond with my partner. His devotion manifests in the sweetest ways, from bedtime cuddles to following her around our apartment. Chaucer reminds us that cats choose their favorite people on their own terms, and we’re just lucky to be part of their world.
