The peaceful night shattered like glass when a sudden crash yanked me from dreamland. My ears twitched, fur stood on end, and my tail puffed to twice its size. Some inconsiderate human or rogue raccoon had the audacity to interrupt a perfectly good nap. The injustice burned hotter than a sunbeam on fresh asphalt.

As I blinked my wide, irritated eyes in the darkness, I contemplated the many ways this night could have gone better. Maybe with extra treats before bed, or perhaps if the world understood that cats need their eighteen hours of beauty sleep. The nerve of noise existing at this hour. I stretched dramatically, making sure any nearby witnesses understood my suffering, before curling into an even grumpier ball of fluff. Tomorrow, I would demand compensation in tuna.
